Lugh and Danu on the chase.
I just love his color and markings!
Danu is Lugh's sister that lives in Estes Park, Colorado
Here's Lugh thinking he actually has the upper hand on our new Oorang Airedale puppy Eomer. Truth is, she got here and decided that she is running the place!!

Here is a sweet picture of Chloe' and Lugh. Chloe' has been sticking right beside him since he's been home.
Here are some recent pics of Lugh.

I would like to take this time to let owners of IW's that feel its okay to let them have a sock as a toy that it is not okay.

Our big guy (Lugh) is recovering from a surgery that cost over 3 grand to have a sock removed that had lodged in his intestine. We do not allow them to have socks as toys but he did pull one out of the laundry and ended up swallowing it.   Had he by chance found one that didn't have the end folded over it would have probably passed through...but I beg you please do not allow them as toys.

Lugh was first misdiagnosed as having HGE
(Hemoraphagic Gastroenteritis). But the diagnosis was made based solely on the fact that he was vomitting. Which was incorrect to assume that, as HGE always not only makes a dog vomit but it is bloody vomit and they will also have bloody diarrhea. We took Lugh to the Colorado vet and was told that the correct x-rays were not even done, and it is there that he was found to have a sock in his intestine. Emergency surgery was performed just about an hour after seeing the Colorado vet for the first time. Had I not had the feeling that there was more to it than the local vet said was wrong with him and waited one more day to get him to Colorado we would have lost this beautiful boy! If you have questions about whether or not your vet is doing all that can be done....get a second opinion, it may be the opinion that saves your dogs life. Thankfully, Lugh will make a full recovery and is happy to be home after his three nights in critical care at CSU Vet Teaching Hospital. I will also tell you now, that not one of my IW's will be ever be seen by the local vet again. I was referred to a wonderful vet in Colorado who specializes in Irish Wolfhounds. I will not give the locals another shot at my wolfies again!! Its an outrage, how the one vet in particular has almost let two of of this litter die.

Awwwww!! Lugh!!
Lugh is such a handsome boy! He worries us though that he is maybe just a bit too curious for his own good. We make sure to keep a close eye on him at all times. And we certainly learned to make sure that he cannot get to anything that will fit in his mouth and look like alot of potential fun to a young male Irish Wolfhound!

Lugh thinks he is still a lap dog!
Look Lugh, there is a whole other dog in this pile!!!
Sadly on September 22, 2008 our family and our hearts had to say good-bye to this big wonderful boy!

Lugh suddenly became ill and passed due to Dialated Cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart). In a male IW of this young age there is nothing much that can be done when they get this condition. If he would have been 4 or 5 it would have been a different story!

Lugh Boy, we love you will all of our hearts and we will miss you tremendously!! Come see me anytime you want!!
